At CES, Pioneer introduced the two latest additions to their GM-series Amplifiers, both mono Class-D’s. feature block-style terminals that allow power and speaker cables to be securely connected to the amplifier without the use of crimped-on spade terminals.
The GM-D7400M and GM-D8400M digital mono amplifiers, intended for powering large subwoofers, use digital technology that make them 80-95 percent more efficient than conventional class A/B amplifiers. Due to the increased efficiency, the physical size of the new amplifiers was also reduced by 45 percent, making them more compact and easier to install.
As far as specs are concerned, what your money nets you are 400 watts @ 2ohms, with the D7400M, and 600 watts @ 2ohms with the D8400M. Both with variable low pass filter with a range of 40-240 Hz.

It seems Slim Subwoofers and Compact and Stackable Amplifiers are making even more headway into the12v market. Prices for these two babies as well as the four Other GM-Series A/B Amplifeiers start at $100, and end at $300. That’s a price any wife of a 12v lover can live with!

Question my 12v Fan, can you check your MySpace with your Navigation unit? No? You don’t get e-mail on it either? Perhaps take pictures? Shame!
Pretty soon, all the navigations of tomorrow will just be tiny portable touchscreen all-in-one computers, which technically Clarion’s new MiND is. MiND features a 5.3″ wvga lcd touchscreen, capable of 800 x 480 pixels of bliss. Access to 12vblog.com via browser and WiFi built in, and built on a Linux OS. It even has a built-in Camera on it. The only thing this thing can’t do is place calls…. technically, but with built in Bluetooth and Microphone, it can through your phone. Oh yea, did we mention it does the whole Navigation thing too?
Other specifications include:
- Intel Menlow (Based on Silverthorne processor and Poulsbo Chipset)
- 256MB DRAM
- 4GB Flash Memory for Storage
- WiFi
- GPS Antenna/Receiver
- Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery
- Amplifier
- Speaker
- Headphone Jack
- 3G Data Module (Future Capability)
- Mobile WiMAX (Future Capability)
The price?? We’d like to know as well. By far, this just might be one of the most all-inclusiveportable navigation units we’ve seen thus far. We’ll keep you posted on any updates.

Slim is IN my friends! And Pioneer wants in on some of the slimfastness too. Introducing the latest from Pioneer, the TS-SW301 (12-inch) and TS-SW251 (10-inch) shallow subwoofers, measuring at only 3.5-inches deep. Recapture back you trunk space, the recommend sizes is anywhere from 0.35 cu. ft. all the way up to a whooping 1.0 cu. ft. for the TW301.
Too lazy to build your own box, Pioneer is one step ahead of JU! (pictured below)
Pioneer has also created the TS-SWX310 “ready-to-play” subwoofer enclosure pre-loaded with one 12-inch TS-SW301 subwoofer. The enclosure is made of reinforced medium density fiberboard (MDF), wrapped in high-quality black carpet with an embroidered Pioneer logo. The TS-SWX310 will be available in March 2008 with a suggested price of $250.

Some innovative features that Pioneer added include: an “air suspension control system” which rids the need for a traditional spider, and a stamped metal “fin-shape” directional basket which reduces the “loading effect”.
You won’t have to dig TOO deep in your pocket either for these babies. They will only cost you $140 for the 10″er and $20 more for the 12. They are expected to be available January 2008, so get em while they’re hot!

Sony has added the NV-U73T and U83T to their portable navigation offerings, which are available to pre-order right now as we speak. The U83T (pictured above) sports a 4.8″ touchpanel widescreen display, with the smaller sibling, the U73T (pictured below), getting a 4.3″er. The main feature difference between the two is the Bluetooth Handsfree capability and POSITION Plus is standard on the 83T. What is POSITION Plus you say?
In addition to the SiRF Star III GPS chip, POSITION Plus includes a pressure sensor, gyro sensor and an acceleration sensor. The nav-u device uses these additional sensors to calibrate where drivers are so they can safely plan ahead and won’t miss turns coming out of tunnels or from in-between tall buildings.
Other features shard by both units include a Text To Speech capability, Gesture Command, and access to Real Time Traffic Information channel.

Pre-order price for these units are $499 and $349 respectively. They are slated to be available on or around 02/22/2008. Looks wise, this unit sure is a beauty
